Every year, sea trout anglers from all of Europe travel to Österlen to battle with the Österlen trout which is renowned for its size. Trout weighing 2-5 kilos are not unusual, and each season we catch sea trout at Österlen with amazing weights of up to 10 kilos. We have angled for sea trout in Österlen using spinner rods since the 1940s.
   The season starts every year on 1 January and is at its peak during March-April. The sea trout is protected from angling from 15 September until 31 December. Minimum length: 50 cm. Released fish, coloured, or the so-called “ragor” or “besor” (kelts) – neither put up a good fight or make a good meal, and seasoned sea trout anglers will release them back into the sea.
   Traditionally, we use spinners for angling, but fly fishing is increasingly popular every year. The choice is yours – both methods are efficient, and the chances of catching the fish of your dreams are great when you go to Österlen.

We have storage facilities available for your fishing gear (clothes, waders, etc.), so you do not have to keep it in your car. Furthermore, we have a freezer available to store the fish you catch, if you want to bring them home with you after your stay. Please note that you must gut and clean your fish at the water before we can store it. This will also ensure the best quality fish for your meals.
   If you want to go fishing at daybreak, and if you want your breakfast extra early, we are happy to prepare and pack breakfast for you. We pack it the evening before your early start at no extra cost.
